Memorial Day Weekend | May 24th – 27th
Meant To Offend has grown to be one of Seattle’s largest gathering of Vespa scooters, mopeds and motorcycle enthusiasts. This year like previous years, Meant to Offend will be a tour-de-force for the senses. MTO has been going strong for the past twenty years with a spirit and love of not only riding, but everything else that we enjoy here in the Northwest. We have led such rides as our famous Taco Time Trial, a tour of Seattle’s taco trucks now in it’s 7th year, and our infamous “Bikini Barista” ride which was publicized in the Seattle Weekly. There are many other tours and rides led not just around Seattle, but to Tacoma and to Vashon Island that are in the planning stages. Imagine motorcycles, mopeds and Vespa scooters riding together down the streets of Seattle in one massive group. That’s what Meant to Offend is all about. We hope that you will attend this years event!
For the latest, visit the event page on Facebook.
Rally packs are limited to 150 this year. Pre-ordering is strongly encouraged. Order your rally pack via Paypal at the LGG’s website.

1. Special guest is postponed to next Officers meeting. We’re bringing in an accountant to help us determine non profit eligibility and necessity.
2. Should clubs have a minimum of 3 VCOS members to receive rally sponsorship from VCOS? This should be addressed when updating the by-laws along with: keeping a “buffer” amount of money in our account, creating a VCOS budget (Don Milgate will work on this), and asking clubs to mention VCOS when they receive rally sponsorship. Request to start working on the by-laws now and have a work group (with Bill Metteer) in the future.
3. Suz James has received many discount commitments for VCOS members – these need to be posted on our website. Andrew/Blair Stacks?
4. Insanity Update – request to have regular status update meetings to support Andrew Danger Saturn with Insanity planning. Andrew – let’s touch base and determine which times/dates work for your schedule.
5. Robert Walter Hodge has requested funds for a Best Represented club trophy. He will price different options and report back to the club.
6. VCOS has sponsored the MetroBetties Scooter Club with $200 for their Bettie Ride on Friday, May 3rd.
7. Suz will be ordering VCOS business / marketing cards. Cost = approximately $100.

Old Business
Blair brought up contribution of $200 for Spring Roll rally, set for March 30, 2013 (details on our Events page). Current bylaws state that costs under $200 are discretionary spending and do not require club vote. The bylaws also state that the club can contribute up to $500 to other rallies run by other clubs. Don Milgate motioned to approve based on the fact that this falls under discretionary spending, Rob Hodge seconded. Motion was passed by unanimous vote.
Blair Stacks brought up the current plan of having a CPA attend a club meeting to talk about applying for Non-Profit status. She will come to a meeting and give a presentation as well as help us with the taxes and necessary paperwork. On March 26th, 2013 (the March officers meeting) we will accommodate the visit. Andrew Saturn noted that the expert will need to answer questions regarding club formation, bylaws, etc and whether this will affect the future standing of the club with the Fed Govt. so that we do not lose our funds.
Suz James presented current and planned discounts offered by businesses. She is still working out details of discounts and how they’ll work. Suz James would like to eventually update the website to reflect current discount agreements.
New Business
Andrew Saturn moved to use the new logo which had been presented at previous meetings as well as on the club’s official Facebook page. The logo would serve as a new modern cog logo for use on publicity materials, rally shirts, fliers, etc, and would not remove the classic cog from use. Rob Hodge mentioned that the club has no official logo according to the bylaws. Don Milgate motioned to approve using a new logo. Rob Hodge seconded. The motion was passed unanimously.
Rob Motioned to adjourn. Don Milgate seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting closed at 8:40pm.

- Ed said he would e-mail the nominees list to him.
- “Traveling trophy” – It was discussed at the last meeting and presented at the September Members meetings. It won’t be needed until the next Insanity rally (July 2013),so it was decided to work on that next year.
- Oktoberscoot
- Ed asked for $60 to pay for the pretzels. This was granted. The Club will reimburse Ed.
- Suz presented the estimated cost for the food. $115. The officers agreed to write her a check for $125 to be sure she enough for incidentals
- The Officers decided that the Club would just pay for the food, and put out a jar for contributions. This would avoid need for a food permit.
- Suz stated that the Metro Betty’s needed a grill for the cooking, and a means to get it to the rally sight. Ed volunteered to post a message to the VCOS Facebook page asking for help. Rob suggested that if we could get a truck, that there was a good possibility he could borrow the Vespa Lynwood barbecue. It was mentioned that Victor might have one at Vespa Seattle.
- New topic – Club Patch – 2 ideas were discussed
- Instead of a 5 year or 10 year patch, give out a small patch that would have a year – 1, 2, 3, etc. on it, to display under the Club patch. A suggested design was a one that looked like a scooter floor rail.
- Andrew Saturn had been working on several new designs for a new VCOS Club patch. The officers were in favor of doing a new patch. Don volunteered to contact Andrew about his designs.
- New topic – It was a discussed that an Insanity Chair VCOS officers position should be established to recognize the hard work for the person who volunteers to head the Rally. It was agreed that this would be further discussed after the new set of officers were seated.

- The Los Gatos Gordos Scooter Club, represented by Brandon and Marty, announced that their club was going to do the Oktoberscoot rally this year. Their concept was to have it based in the parking lot at Vespa Seattle and have rides leave from there. They wanted this to be family friendly, so the whole family could attend. They requested that the other clubs sign up to lead a ride to a different brewery. They envisioned having carnival games for the kids, and other things associated with an Oktoberfest. They requested the VCOS do some sort of German food.
- Ed volunteered to do a kids gymkhana, provided Victor could get his kids electric scooter working.

- Ed volunteered to go get beer pretzels.

The rally name, year and the best-represented club’s name would go on the trophy. That club would get the trophy, and then give it out at their next rally. Rob stated that this was already being done elsewhere. That trophy has been in circulation for several years, and was becoming a sought after item of pride for the clubs involved.

Present at the meeting were the Los Gatos Gordos (LGG) SC and several Club members.
President Rob opened the meeting with some general comments, and then introduced Brandon and Marty, prominent members of the LGG SC.
They announced that the LGGs had decided that they were going to do the Festering Oktoberscoot rally for this year. Their reason for coming to the VCOS Officers meeting was to describe what their concept was for the rally, and to solicit the VCOS’s help to do the rally. They wanted to have a family friendly rally so everyone – husbands, wives, and kids could attend. The idea was to do the rally just on Saturday (Oct 6, 2012), base it at Vespa –Seattle, and have rides go from there to various breweries, and return. They were requesting that each scooter club lead a ride to a brewery.
For the base area, they wanted to have something for the kids to do, like a carnival – maybe a bumpy-bounce blowup, a kid’s gymkhana – and provide day care. They requested VCOS set up some sort of food concession, with maybe German Oktoberfest type food. Also maybe have people dress as for an Oktoberfest. Maybe have a home brew tasting contest.
Everyone attending was positive about the concept and wished to support.
President Rob said he would discuss this with the members at the September members meeting.
President Rob brought up the idea of establishing a “travelling” trophy that would be given to the best-represented club at a rally. The rally name, year and the best-represented club’s name would go on the trophy. That club would get the trophy, and then give it out at their next rally. Rob stated that this was already being done elsewhere. That trophy has been in circulation for several years, and was becoming a sought after item of pride for the clubs involved. He stated that he would discuss with the VCOS member at the September members meeting.
